Medicine Study in Ukraine

The Eastern Europe country, Ukraine is among the top ten preferred destination among international students. Students from more than 70 countries come to Ukraine every year to study medicine. Medical universities in Ukraine employ new innovations and high-tech learning tools to educate and train future young doctors, researchers, scientists in the best way possible.

Ukraine, the second largest country in Europe has been at the forefront of medical and technological studies and research, which was reinforced further by its entry into Bologna process.

After getting inducted to Bologna process, Ukraine has reformed the educational system, adapting it to EU standards. Today specialists of medical and pharmaceutical fields are prepared in higher education establishments of I-IV levels of accreditation, which include 64 medical schools, 47 medical colleges and their branches, 02 nursing institutes, 12 medical universities, 02 medical academies, 01 national pharmaceutical university and 03 academies of post-graduate medical education. Six medical universities and one medical academy for postgraduate education have the status of national establishments.

The medical degrees from Ukraine are accredited by WHO, NMC, etc. and recognized by medical licensing exams like USMLE (US) and PLAB (UK).

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a 06-year programme with final year dedicated for internship training. The study pattern follows European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The medium of instruction is English, but the medical students are required to attain proficiency in local language for communication with patients at their medical internship period.

Admission board carry out the acceptance of foreigners to establishments of higher education of Ukraine based on interview and following consideration of submitted documents of previous education. Each university has its own requirements as to the level of academic achievements for foreign students.
